After previously partnering with AMS Geek on technology initiatives, SHAPE America returned to us looking for another way to improve the digital experience for its members. This time, the focus was on connecting MemberSuite and WordPress through a custom Single Sign-On (SSO) solution.

When accessing member-only content, they don't want to think about authentication or permissions. They simply want to sign in once and immediately access the resources included with their membership.
For associations, delivering that experience can be challenging when the AMS and website operate independently.
Without an integrated authentication process, members may encounter multiple logins, inconsistent access to protected content, or confusion about what resources are available to them.
To simplify the member journey, AMS Geek implemented a custom WordPress plugin that connects MemberSuite and WordPress using MemberSuite's standard Single Sign-On process.
Members authenticate through MemberSuite and can seamlessly access protected content on SHAPE America's WordPress website without unnecessary barriers.
The solution also validates active journal subscriptions stored in MemberSuite before granting access to the appropriate gated content in WordPress. As a result, members receive the benefits included with their subscriptions automatically, while staff no longer need to manage those permissions manually.

By connecting MemberSuite and WordPress, SHAPE America can ensure that access to premium journals and protected resources is tied directly to active subscriptions. Members receive the content they're entitled to, while the organization maintains secure and accurate access controls behind the scenes.
