When Two AMS Platforms Need to Work as One

Sometimes the right technology strategy is not about replacing one system with another.

For the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA), two different membership platforms serve different purposes. CFMA uses ACGI as its core AMS and Glue Up for chapter management. Rather than forcing one platform to handle every function, CFMA is working with AMS Geek to connect the two through a two-way integration.

The goal is to let each system do what it does best while keeping important member data aligned.

Connecting Membership and Chapter Management

ACGI will remain the source for new-member creation. On an hourly or daily schedule, the integration will send new member records from ACGI to Glue Up.

Once those records reach Glue Up, the integration will place each member into the correct chapter or chapters based on the membership data from ACGI. Members without a chapter assignment will go into a designated non-affiliated group.

This helps CFMA keep chapter data organized without asking staff to recreate member records or assignments manually.

Moving Data in Both Directions

This project is more than a one-way member sync.

Glue Up will also send profile updates and CPE credit activity back to ACGI. At the same time, ACGI will remain the system of record for CPE data.

That distinction matters.

When two systems manage overlapping types of information, the integration needs clear rules about which platform owns each piece of data. Without those rules, duplicate updates and conflicting records can become a problem.

By defining the system of record up front, CFMA can use both platforms without losing control of its core data.

Letting Each Platform Serve Its Purpose

Organizations do not always need a single platform to manage every process.

In some cases, one system may be the best fit for core membership management while another better supports chapters or other specialized functions.

That is the case for CFMA. ACGI will continue to manage new-member creation and CPE data, while Glue Up will support chapter assignments and related member activity. The integration will connect those workflows so the systems do not operate in isolation.

Building the Integration Around Clear Rules

AMS Geek will build and test the API connections between ACGI and Glue Up. The project also includes the logic needed to manage member creation, chapter assignments, profile updates, and CPE credit activity.

Just as importantly, CFMA and AMS Geek will define the fields and rules that guide those syncs.

That planning is what turns a basic data connection into a useful business workflow.

A Connected Approach to Multiple AMS Platforms

Using two AMS platforms does not have to mean managing two separate sets of data.

With the right integration strategy, organizations can use different systems for different needs while still maintaining a connected technology environment.

For CFMA, the ACGI and Glue Up integration will help keep membership, chapter, profile, and CPE information aligned across both platforms.

The result is not about making two systems identical. It is about making them work together.
