Connecting Advocacy and CRM Data for HSHV

Advocacy activity can tell an organization a lot about how people engage with its mission. However, that information loses value when it lives in a separate system from the rest of a constituent’s record.

The Humane Society of Huron Valley (HSHV) uses Virtuous for CRM and VoterVoice for advocacy management. To bring those systems closer together, HSHV is working with AMS Geek to create a one-way integration between VoterVoice and Virtuous.

The goal is simple: make advocacy activity easier to see and use inside the CRM.

Bringing Advocacy Activity Into Virtuous

When someone takes an advocacy action in VoterVoice, that activity should not remain isolated from the rest of their engagement history.

The new integration will check VoterVoice on an hourly basis for advocacy actions created since the previous successful run. It will then identify the matching individual in Virtuous and add the action details to that person’s record.

As a result, HSHV can keep more of its constituent engagement data together in one place.

That gives staff a clearer picture of how individuals are interacting with the organization across different channels.

Keeping District Information Current

Advocacy data often depends on location.

Because of that, the integration also needs to account for address changes. The process will check Virtuous for newly created contacts and contacts whose addresses have changed since the last successful run.

If the individual also exists in VoterVoice, the integration will update the address there. It will then bring refreshed district information back into Virtuous.

This helps keep advocacy-related data aligned with the most current constituent information.

Connecting Systems Around the Way Staff Work

The value of an integration goes beyond moving data between two platforms.

For HSHV, the larger goal is to connect advocacy activity with the CRM records staff already use. That means less time spent checking separate systems and a more complete view of each constituent.

AMS Geek will build and test the API connections, configure the integration in Data Sangria, and test key workflows such as action processing, individual matching, address changes, and district updates.

By defining those workflows clearly, the integration can support the way HSHV already works instead of adding another manual process.

Creating a More Complete View of Engagement

Organizations often rely on different platforms for fundraising, advocacy, events, communications, and other programs.

The challenge is making sure those systems do not become separate islands of information.

For HSHV, connecting VoterVoice and Virtuous creates a stronger link between advocacy activity and constituent data. It helps staff see more of the engagement happening across the organization without needing to manage that information manually.

That is what a thoughtful integration should do: connect the right systems, support the right workflows, and make useful data easier for staff to access.
