Connecting the Member Journey from Login to Registration

By

Event registration is often one of the most visible parts of an association’s technology experience.

For members, the process should feel simple. They should be able to sign in, register for the right event, and move on without thinking about what is happening behind the scenes.

For the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG), creating that smoother experience means connecting two important platforms: YourMembership and Cvent.

NCPG uses YourMembership as its association management system and Cvent for event management. To bring those systems together, NCPG is working with AMS Geek on two connected solutions: single sign-on from YourMembership into Cvent and a data sync from Cvent back into YourMembership.

Creating a Smoother Sign-On Experience

The first part of the project focuses on the member registration experience.

AMS Geek will build and host a custom identity provider that allows members to move from Cvent to YourMembership to sign in. After authentication, the user will return to Cvent to continue registration.

The process will also use YourMembership member data to help determine the correct Cvent registration type.

That creates a more connected experience for members because they can use their existing YourMembership credentials instead of managing a separate login just for event registration.

Using Member Data During Registration

Single sign-on can do more than eliminate another username and password.

As members move into Cvent, the SSO service can also pass user information into the registration process. That information can help populate corresponding registration fields and guide members to the appropriate registration path based on their YourMembership member type.

This helps reduce unnecessary steps for the member while also making the registration experience more consistent with the information already stored in the AMS.

Bringing Event Data Back Into YourMembership

The second part of the project focuses on what happens after registration.

AMS Geek will build a one-way integration in Data Sangria to move data from Cvent back into YourMembership. The integration will support updates to member profiles, the creation of new registrant or member profiles with duplicate checking, and event registration data.

That connection helps keep event activity from becoming isolated in Cvent.

Instead, useful registration information can return to the AMS, where it can become part of the broader member record.

Connecting the Front-End and Back-End Experience

What makes this project especially valuable is that it addresses both sides of the event experience.

On the front end, members get a more seamless path from login to registration.

On the back end, staff can keep important registration and profile information connected to YourMembership.

Together, those two solutions create a more complete workflow between the AMS and event platform.

Building Around the Member Journey

Technology integrations are often described in terms of APIs, field mappings, and data flows.

Those pieces matter, but the real goal is bigger.

The best integrations support the way members and staff actually interact with technology.

For NCPG, that means making it easier for members to access event registration while also helping staff keep important information connected across systems.

The result is a smoother member experience and a more connected technology environment behind it.
