MSS Connects YourMembership and SpecBuilder with AMS Geek

The Manufacturers Standardization Society (MSS) is taking that challenge head-on as it adopts SpecBuilder as its standards management platform while continuing to use YourMembership as its association management system (AMS).

To help connect the two platforms, MSS is working with AMS Geek to implement single sign-on (SSO) and a one-way data integration between YourMembership and SpecBuilder. 

Creating a More Connected Experience

YourMembership serves as a central source for important member information at MSS, while SpecBuilder will provide a dedicated environment for standards management.

Rather than requiring the two platforms to operate independently, MSS is connecting them so that members and staff can benefit from a more unified technology environment.

As part of the project, AMS Geek will implement an SSO connection that allows users to access SpecBuilder using their existing YourMembership credentials. YourMembership will remain the source for user authentication, helping create a more consistent login experience as members move between systems. 

Keeping Committee and Task Group Access Aligned

The project goes beyond simplifying sign-in.

AMS Geek is also building a one-way integration that will synchronize selected committee and task-group information from YourMembership into SpecBuilder. YourMembership will serve as the source system for those assignments, with the integration adding or removing users from the appropriate groups in SpecBuilder based on the records maintained in the AMS.

For MSS, this creates a clearer connection between the member information maintained in its AMS and the access users need within its standards management platform.

Instead of treating each system as a separate environment, the integration is designed to help the platforms support the same underlying member and committee structure.

Making Specialized Technology Work Together

Associations often need specialized platforms to support different parts of their mission. The challenge isn't necessarily finding one system that does everything—it's creating an ecosystem where the right systems can work together.

For MSS, that means continuing to use YourMembership for association and member management while introducing SpecBuilder for standards management, with AMS Geek providing the connection between the two.

The result will be a technology environment designed around how MSS operates: members authenticate through the system they already use, relevant committee and task-group information moves between platforms, and SpecBuilder can support the organization's standards work without becoming disconnected from its broader association ecosystem.
